Troubleshooting and FAQ

When something acts strangely, start here.

At a glance
  • Failed job: check the Queue history, then try again.
  • Robotic voice: clean up your samples.
  • Long sentence warning: split it in Edit Text.

Common questions

Why did my job fail?

Look at the Queue's History section. The usual causes:

  • The voice engine crashed. Restart the app and try again.
  • A segment went over the character limit. Analyze the text again or split it.
  • Your disk is full.

Why does the voice sound robotic?

  • Make sure your samples are clean, with no background noise.
  • Check that you recorded neither too close to nor too far from the microphone.
  • Try a different set of samples, then regenerate the preview.

How do I fix a long-sentence warning?

  1. Open the chapter's Edit Text tab.
  2. Look for the red ACTION REQUIRED badge and click it to see the sentences that are still too long.
  3. Split each one into two shorter sentences, then save.

A badge like N/M long sentences auto-fixed means the app already split those for you.

How to rebuild a voice

  1. Open the Voices tab and open the voice.
  2. Add or remove samples as needed.
  3. Click Rebuild, then Regenerate Sample to hear it.

First run seems stuck

The first launch downloads and sets up the voice engine, which takes a while. Look at the terminal window: it shows progress. If the script stops early, check that Python, Node.js and FFmpeg are installed.

Still stuck? Open an issue on the Audiobook Studio GitHub page and describe what you clicked and what you saw.
