Settings
Settings holds a short list of switches that apply to the whole app.
At a glance
- Open Settings from the gear icon at the top right.
- Safe Mode helps the voice engine recover from errors.
- Produce MP3 adds MP3 copies of chapters.
- Your work is stored in folders next to the app.
The options
- Safe Mode: tries to recover the voice engine automatically if it hits an error.
- Produce MP3: makes an MP3 alongside the WAV for each chapter, for wider compatibility.
- Backfill MP3s: (shown only while Produce MP3 is on) goes through your Library and makes MP3s for chapters that do not have one yet.
Each switch shows ON or OFF. Click it to change.
XTTS and Voxtral
XTTS (Local) is the default. It runs on your computer.
Voxtral (Cloud) is optional and hidden at first. It appears once you save your own Mistral API key in Settings and switch Voxtral Cloud Voices to ON. You can also set the Voxtral model name there. Turning Voxtral off hides it again but keeps your saved key.
Heads up: If you enable Voxtral (Cloud), the text being synthesized and any selected reference audio are sent to Mistral. For a fully local workflow, keep your voices on XTTS (Local).
Where your files live
By default the app stores everything in folders inside its own directory:
/projects/: your text, audio and assembled books./voices/: voice models and profile information./chapters/: loose chapter text for older text-file flows./xtts_audio/and/audiobooks/: older output folders kept for compatibility.
Tip: Back up the
/projects/ and /voices/ folders if your work matters to you.
