Content Hierarchy

Everything in Studio fits into a simple hierarchy. Knowing the levels makes the rest of the app click.

At a glance
  • Library → Project → Chapter → Segment → Chunk.
  • Segments are lines/blocks; chunks are what the engine actually speaks.
  • Each level owns different settings.

The levels

  • Library: all your projects in one place.
  • Project: one book: chapters, characters, defaults, and output.
  • Chapter: a unit of text you narrate and assemble.
  • Segment / block: a line or passage, assigned to a voice.
  • Chunk: the actual piece of text sent to the engine.

Why chunks exist

Engines work best on bounded pieces of text. Studio splits long segments into chunks under a character limit, synthesizes each, and stitches them back together. This keeps quality consistent and makes targeted re-generation cheap.

Note: You mostly work at the project, chapter, and segment levels. Chunking happens automatically.

What each level owns

Projects hold defaults (like the narrator and output preset); chapters hold their text and assignments; segments hold per-line voice choices. See Project Workspace.
