Installing & Updating Engines
Engines install like Stable Diffusion extensions: browse, clone, and update with a click. You can also import a zip directly.
In progress: the in-app engine browser is part of the 2.0 rollout.
At a glance
- Browse the GitHub topic
audiobook-studio-tts, or paste a repo URL. - Install = git clone; update = git pull.
- Updates show as a notify-only alert in Settings → TTS Engines.
- Import a zip or delete an engine from the UI.
Install
Find an engine and clone it down. Studio validates the manifest and folder name before any code loads, then registers it. Heavy weights download on first use.
Update
Updates are notify-only. Settings → TTS Engines lists available updates with per-engine Update and Update all; Studio never updates without your click.
Import & delete
You can also import an engine from a zip (for offline or private engines) and delete engines with a confirmation. Dependency installs show clear feedback.
Heads up: third-party engines run code in the TTS Server. Studio shows a trust prompt naming the source before installing a community engine.
